How to sow outdoors: Sow the seeds thinly in rows 30cm (12in) apart. Cover with 2cm of fine soil and firm down gently.

How to grow outdoors: Thin if required to 5cm (2in) apart. You can allow alternate beets to grow by pulling every second beet when the roots reach 2-3cm across. Baby beets are tasty salad ingredients.

Harvest: June to October. Roots can reach 5-7cm (2-3in) before harvesting.
