Putting our online business on hold

In 250 years of trading, we have always put our staff, customers and suppliers at the heart of everything we do. During these challenging and unprecedented times, never has there been a more important time to continue doing so.

It is, therefore, with great sadness that as a result of the continued situation with the coronavirus pandemic, we have reached a decision to temporarily close our online business until further notice (our store remains closed).

This is by far the biggest challenge our business has faced in living memory, and it is testament to the commitment of our staff that we have been able to respond to customer orders online until this time.

If you have already placed an order, this will be put together for you and you will be advised of when it is despatched. You can browse our site, however you will not be able to make a purchase at this time.

Please contact sales@bakersandlarners.com if you have any queries and we’ll do our best to help.

We look forward to a time when we can safely welcome you back to Bakers & Larners of Holt and to our online shopping experience; in the meantime, we’d like to thank you for your continued loyalty during this extraordinary time, keep yourselves and your families safe and well. When things change, we’ll share them with you here on our homepage.

At Bakers and Larners we are proud to stock the wines of Chateau Musar and have done for over 30 years. Owned by the Hochar family, founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930, The Hochar family’s philosophy of respect for the environment means that the 180 hectares of Musar vineyards are managed with minimal human interference and all the wines are made naturally. All the grapes are hand-harvested by local Bedouins between August and October. All grapes for Chateau Musar wines come from the Bekaa Valley. Remote and unspoilt, the Musar vineyards were ‘organic’ by default before the term was coined. In the winery, ambient yeasts do the work of fermentation. The bare minimum of sulphur is used and the Chateau Musar Red wines are neither fined nor filtered.
