Opening hours Our opening hours have changed.  We will open from 9.30am – 5pm, Monday – Saturday (closed on Sunday). Our cleaning regime While we pride ourselves on our cleanliness, our regime has been stepped up to ensure everyone is kept safe.  This will include regular disinfecting of door handles, our lift, hand-rails, trollies and baskets.  Hand sanitisers will be provided at different locations throughout the store including at all entrance and exit points.  Customer parking Parking onsite at Bakers & Larners of Holt will be free of charge until further notice.  We do not want customers to feel rushed or anxious if safety measures result in more time than expected spent in the store.  Our website will be updated if this changes. Number Ten Restaurant Our restaurant will remain closed until further notice. Till points You will notice that we have reduced the number of till points throughout the store to create more space.  Each till point will have a protective screen.  We’d encourage you to pay for your goods with a card wherever possible to limit the exchange of cash.  The contactless limit has been increased to £45.  Beauty and Fashion services Our fitting rooms will not be in use until further notice.  We will not be undertaking our bra-fitting service until further notice.  Beauty testers will not be available and we will not be undertaking any demonstrations or beauty consultations for the foreseeable future.  Please let a member of staff know if you have tried a jacket on in either menswear or women's clothing so that it can be steam cleaned before being returned to the rail for sale after 72 hours. Customer toilets Our customer toilets will not be available until further notice (public toilets are available in Albert Street). Refund policy We have revised our refund policy so that you can return or exchange unwanted items* up to 21 days after purchase.  A holding area will be in place for returned goods where they will be set aside for 72 hours before returning to the shop floor for sale. *terms and conditions apply The team is looking forward to welcolming back our customers and will be on hand to assist wherever they can and to offer help and advice regarding the changes. Jane Gurney-Read, Managing Director 30 April 2020 Putting our online business on hold In 250 years of trading, we have always put our staff, customers and suppliers at the heart of everything we do.  During these challenging and unprecedented times, never has there been a more important time to continue doing so. It is, therefore, with great sadness that as a result of the continued situation with the coronavirus pandemic, we have reached a decision to temporarily close our online business until further notice (our store remains closed).  This is by far the biggest challenge our business has faced in living memory, and it is testament to the commitment of our staff that we have been able to respond to customer orders online until this time. If you have already placed an order, this will be put together for you and you will be advised of when it is despatched. You can browse our site, however you will not be able to make a purchase at this time. Please contact sales@bakersandlarners.com if you have any queries and we’ll do our best to help. We look forward to a time when we can safely welcome you back to Bakers & Larners of Holt and to our online shopping experience; in the meantime, we’d like to thank you for your continued loyalty during this extraordinary time, keep yourselves and your families safe and well.  When things change, we’ll share them with you here on our homepage. Jane Gurney-Read, Managing Director 9 April 2020 Easter is just around the corner, but it will be a very different experience for many of us this year. Holt at this time of year is usually bustling with local people and the many visitors that the make the high street, together with our fellow traders, a vibrant and joyful place to be.  Spring is in the air, the sun is shining and yet the streets are, with the exception of those going about essential business, eerily deserted, but necessarily so as the emphasis must remain on keeping each other safe this Easter and beyond. Almost two weeks have passed since we closed the doors to Bakers & Larners of Holt (although we have still been taking online orders) and since then, we’ve been focussing our efforts on serving the local communities from our Budgens stores in Aylsham and Holt.  Our staff have been working hard to meet unprecedented demand both instore where they have been, together with our customers, adapting to the social distancing measures in place, and our home delivery service.   We have been overwhelmed by the thanks we have received both instore and online, it has been much appreciated.  We will continue to serve the community at CT Baker Budgens throughout the Easter weekend (although note both stores will be closed on Easter Sunday).  If you do visit either store, please do so alone and use your card to pay for your shopping – the contactless limit has been upped to £45.  Please be respectful of our social distancing measures, too and note the restrictions we have on certain products.  We all have to continue to work together to keep each other safe and well. We look forward to a time when we can re-open the doors and safely welcome our customers back to Bakers & Larners of Holt, we’ve missed regular faces and our many visitors who staff take great pride in assisting.  In the meantime, we’d like to wish you all a happy Easter, stay safe and look after each other. It is, therefore, with great sadness that as a result of the developing situation with the coronavirus pandemic, we have reached a decision to temporarily close Bakers & Larners of Holt until further notice from 5pm on Monday 23 March 2020.  Although I am pleased to say that while the store will be closed, customers will still be able to shop online here at www.bakersandlarners.co.uk  As part of the CT Baker Group, it’s vital that during this time, we support our colleagues in our CT Baker Budgens stores in Aylsham and Holt where staff are working hard to meet unprecedented demand both instore and via our home delivery service.  Please note that our Builders’ Merchants in Holt, Aylsham, Stalham and North Walsham also remain open at this time.   I have been hugely impressed with how the Group has come together as one team to rise to the biggest challenge we’ve faced in living memory. You will see familiar faces from Bakers & Larners of Holt helping out in both stores to ensure they remain open and well stocked so that we can continue to support our local communities, and customers can buy the groceries they need.  Home deliveries will continue, where, of course, our drivers will be adhering to social distancing guidelines.  I would ask that if you are visiting our Budgens stores, you are respectful of our social distancing measures and note the restrictions we have on certain products.  We all have to work together to keep each other safe and well. We look forward to a time when we can safely welcome you back to Bakers & Larners of Holt, and in the meantime, we’d like to thank you for your continued loyalty during this extraordinary time, keep yourselves and your families safe and well. Jane Gurney-Read, Managing Director  23 March 2020 Since my last update, the Prime Minister has announced the closure of all cafes, restaurants and bars (Friday 20 March). As a result, we have closed Number Ten restaurant until further notice.  In other measures, certain items in our Food Hall have been restricted to a maximum of two per customer to ensure that all our customers are able to get what they need during this time. Please respect our staff if they need to remind you of these restrictions. Looking after those close to us in our community will always be our top priority, so we are working hard to ensure we are keeping our store clean, safe and as always, welcoming.  While we pride ourselves on our standards of cleanliness, our daily cleaning regime has been stepped up.  We will continue to diligently follow advice from Public Health England and the World Health Organization and have put in place measures such as removing testers in our perfumery department, covering self-serve items in our Food Hall and withdrawing our bra-fitting service to minimise risk wherever we can. We politely ask that you respect the government’s advice regarding social distancing. Bakers & Larners of Holt puts its staff, customers and suppliers at the heart of everything it does, and during these challenging and unprecedented times, never has there been a more important time to continue doing so. We will continue to adapt as this fast moving-situation dictates. We look forward to a time when we can safely welcome you back to Number Ten restaurant, and in the meantime, thank you for your continued loyalty during this extraordinary time, please keep yourself and your families safe and well.
