Long-standing employee, David Smith, handed over his keys this week after 14 years with CT Baker Group.

David, who is leaving the Group to enjoy retirement, joined the Group in January 2006 from Thaxters of Holt.  David began his tenure as Services Manager with responsibilities ranging from Health and Safety to managing the Group’s vehicle maintenance programme.  Most notably, David has managed a number of the Group’s improvement and expansion projects including an extension of CT Baker Budgens of Holt, development of the most recent addition to the Builders’ Merchants in Aylsham and CT Baker Budgens of Aylsham (both in 2013) and significant extension work at Bakers & Larners of Holt.

Colleagues from each of the three Group divisions came together to surprise David to say a socially distanced goodbye.  David has plans to spend more time gardening and tending to his allotment and when the time is right, enjoy a well deserved holiday!

Jane Gurney-Read, Managing Director of CT Baker Group, delivered a touching speech before presenting David with lots of gifts, and said David had been an “absolute superb member of the team."

David, ever committed, will be returning from time to time to deliver forklift training.  So thankfully for all at CT Baker Group, it’s not so much a so long, rather a goodbye for now.
