On July 4th Bakers and Larners will be staging a Wine Tasting Dinner hosted by Mike Wagstaff of Greyfriars Vineyard. There will be a three course dinner paired with their delightful sparkling and still wines.

 

Greyfriars is located on the sunny south facing chalk slopes of the Hog’s Back at Puttenham, just outside Guildford in Surrey. The original vineyard there was planted in 1989 but since 2010 they have expanded the area under vine to almost 50 acres on three sites focusing on producing stunning English Sparkling Wine. They also have a winery containing state of the art winemaking equipment and dug a natural chalk underground cellar for ageing our wine prior to release.

 

 

 

 

The vineyards at Greyfriars are predominantly planted with the three classic Champagne varieties; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, and also small plots of Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. We are producing a range of spectacular English Sparkling Wines reflecting the unique local soil conditions, climate and heritage of the Surrey North Downs. Greyfriars wines have recently gained critical acclaim and have already won a number of prizes in international competitions including the Decanter World Wine Awards.
