Each season new decor trends emerge, bringing with them the temptation to continually transform our homes. The reality is, this just isn’t possible – or sustainable. Opting for a more thoughtful and timeless style is a trend we should all be following, and it’s something that Bakers & Larners has championed right from the very beginning.

We offer a stylish take on sustainability, selling furniture and furnishings that are built to last, coupled with expert advice on how to achieve timeless appeal.

On Holt’s historic High Street, the modest shop front of our furniture store provides just a hint of the beautifully crafted range of sofas, chairs, dining and occasional furniture, beds and bedroom furniture to be discovered inside.

With 33 years’ service, Andrew, head of our furniture store, understands how important it is to ensure his customers choose what is right for their home. He explains: “We treat every customer as an individual and take the time to find out what sort of look or feel they want to achieve.

“Rather uniquely, we don’t rely on buyers. My team and I select our ranges, so we really care about our products and take a lot of pride in knowing that, with some great advice, a customer can make a wonderful difference to their home.”

For the perfect finishing touch, Karen helps customers choose from a wide range of curtain fabrics and cushions in all styles. “The finishing touches are what makes a house a home,” says Karen, adding that curtain samples can be tried out in the home to get the right match, and a made-to-measure service ensures a perfect fit.

In Karen’s 17 years with Bakers & Larners, she’s seen many trends come and go: ‘We always have a range to suit all tastes; my personal favourite is The Chateau by Angel Strawbridge, which recently featured on Channel 4’s ‘Escape to the Chateau’. It’s quirky and yet utterly timeless.”
