Medium red colour with a tiny hint of garnet, befitting the fact that this has some age on it. On the nose, red cherry notes of the Gamay grape, along with orange peel, mixed herbs and spices. It shows lovely complexity, with earthy, truffle, savoury notes too. On the palate it’s light to medium in body with a silky texture, fresh acidity and low tannins, moderate alcohol that the Gamay grape variety from Fleurie is famous for. But it has masses of flavour, excellent balance and a long, complex finish. Try with tuna steak or baked fish with herbs, or duck confit.
